A Message from the Captain
Finals Day on Sunday was a great success. Thanks to Paul and his Greens staff for presenting the course in such good condition. All competitions were played in very good weather leading to a very high standard of golf with some very close matches. I'd like to congratulate all the worthy winners and commiserations to the runners-up. A special mention to 16 year old Megan Robb for becoming the new Ladies Champion. Well Done!
A list of the winners will be published on the club website. The Winter Programme 2015/16 has now been agreed in collaboration with the Course Manager and the Golf and Greens Committee. Major work will commence on 16th November. This includes completion of 2nd Green on Short Game area; extending and levelling 18th Tee (covering the safety issue for the Ladies); levelling 6th and 1st Tees. While this year we are in a financial position to carry this work out, we believe, given the current financial climate, any similar improvements in the future may incur levying of members. The recent Cel-Am went ahead and was yet again a success being played in glorious weather. The Club is proud to be associated with Kippie Lodge in the raising of much needed funds for local charities 'Clan' and 'Sparks'. Once again, congratulations to all our new Champions.
This year's Club Championship finals day was held on Sunday 16th August - pictured here are the finalists from all of the sections along with our volunteer referees who assisted.
Peterculter juniors qualified for the semi-finals of the Pennant off the Tee event by winning the Deeside area qualifying event.
The foursome's semi-final was played at Inverurie Golf Club on the 9th March and our team successfully overcame Cruden Bay in a tense match. Standing on the 16th tee, the lead pairing of Ross Cooper and Cameron Strachan were 1 down and the second pairing of Murray Spence and Cameron Fraser 2 down. Playing some very steady golf Ross and Cameron turned their match into 1 up after 18 and Murray and Cameron levelled the match after 18 giving Culter the semi-final win.
The final was played that afternoon against Kemnay who proved strong and steady opponents resulting in a loss for Culter in both matches. Overall a successful event for Peterculter and three of our team will still be eligible for next year! Thanks also go to Connor Brown who played in the earlier area event.
