Greetings from Dean Vannet
Peterculter Golf Club - PGA Golf Professional

2014 golf season kicks off

This Saturday 29th March sees the opening of the summer course with the Club Captains vs Vice Captains match kicking off at 9.30am with a Shotgun Start. The tee sheet is fully subscribed and a great day in prospect is indeed on course. Ingram has a BBQ arranged for après golf so much to look forward to indeed.

Spring is in the air

Chirping starlings on the lines overhead and a bloom of colour flowering behind the 1st tee - the golf season beckons!

A revamped Club Menu is now in place with great variety for all – and with the members loyalty card now offering a 15% reduction off listed prices represents fantastic value. We have both a new snack menu and full menu, please click the links to find out more about each.

Kitchen hours

For this coming season the kitchen will be open until 9 / 9:30 in the evening – if you are coming up to the Club for a game early evening you can look forward to dining from our new snack or mains menus along with a sherry or two afterwards?

Saturday 12 hole social golf

A friendly couples Saturday 12 hole golf game followed by a 1 course supper used to be a popular way for meeting new members without engaging in a full 18 hole round. Sadly this fell by the way side over the years. Tee time access is still vacant at the 4-5pm mark and teeing off from the 7th tee worked well before. If there is anyone who is interested in taking the role of administrating and resurrecting this section please feel free to get in touch and we can point you in the right direction. Course Visuals

The new rubber matting which was laid during the winter is now taking root as you can see from this picture

And the Dormy House flowers are in full bloom as well

Get up and golf

"Firstly, I’d like to reiterate what I said at the AGM and that is I regard the position of Club Captain as an honour and a privilege and I shall endeavour to work hard for the Club and our members. Fortunately, we have a very dedicated management team whom I’m sure will provide me with a great support network.

We have had a very mild winter this year which has enabled our Course Manager Paul and his Greens staff to complete their winter programme. Well done to all!

The Clubhouse is looking very smart with its new lighting and window dressings all adding to the welcoming atmosphere of the club. The new club menus are now in place alongside the Club Specials Board. These were based on information received through Clubhouse sales and members input. Please let us know if there is anything ‘special’ you’d like on the ‘Board’.

Practice Area Upgrade plans are in progress. We will provide a view of the layout plans and costing when finalised. In the meantime, Paul has created a large bunker in the existing practice area for our Juniors. We now have a waiting list for our Clubgolf programme. Thanks go to Trevor Grose who remains in charge! Many thanks to Rhona Carrell for all her work as Junior Convenor and welcome aboard to Mark Brown and Gordon Spence who have agreed to share the Convenors position.

We have decided it’s now time to put in place a new 5 year plan for the Club. When this is complete, we will publish on the Club website.

I’d also like to remind everyone of our first club competition which is Club Captain v Club Vice Captain being held on 29th March. I believe it’s almost fully subscribed! Hopefully this is a good omen for the new season!

Finally, I’d like to wish everyone a very good season, especially all our teams representing the club and those involved in organising our various events. The very best of luck for the new season.

Kind Regards,

Janette Cook

Club Captain

Old shoes can be just as costly as wrong equipment

Worn golf shoes are dangerous, quite literally. Not only do you risk taking a tumble with tatty shoes, but with balance compromised, what chance does your swing have? You could be nicely fitted for the best clubs but with traction a problem that could all be in vain.
