Welcome to our first newsletter of 2021!

Firstly a very Happy New Year and all the best for 2021 from the Pro Shop Team - may all your Drives be straight, your shots on target and your putts disappear into the darkness.

Currently as we all know we are currently in our second full lockdown period here in Scotland however and from a golfing standpoint we are allowed to continue playing unlike the other home nations so that’s a bit of a plus.

Just like the first lockdown however we do need to comply with the following rules below which are currently in place.

COVID-19 golf update

Following the recent announcements from the Scottish Government and Scottish Golf, the following rules are now in operation until further notice:

* Golf courses can remain open for play with a maximum of two players from up to two households.
* Golfers must stay close to home, travel only for essential purposes and in line with the new legislation (which can be up to 5 miles from the boundary of your local authority area).

Should any changes take place, we will inform all members as soon as possible.

We are in a unique and privileged position in Scotland with our golf courses being permitted to stay open and we respectfully ask that everyone abides to these rules accordingly to ensure that our facility continues to adhere to the revised guidelines.

Golf Course Status: For day to day information on the status of the golf course please refer to the clubs website: www.banchorygolfclub.co.uk scroll down the Home Page until you arrive at Course Status which will inform the playability of the golf course, this is the platform to keep best informed on the course being playable or unplayable.

At the time of writing the golf course is frozen over and unplayable as these two images clearly demonstrate!

Hopefully we can get some higher temperatures soon, thaw the golf course and get back playing.

Message from Adam / ELG Dining

I would like to wish all the members of Banchory Golf Club a happy and prosperous New Year.

In trying to adjust to the challenges we are currently facing we have decided to offer delicious meals in a takeaway format from Wednesday 6th January.

As well as the menu (see below) there are instructions on how to order, this is all new to us so we will try to iron out any teething problems or answer any questions that arise as we go.

Golf on Tour

A look ahead at what's to come...

2020 was a year like no other, both in golf and in the world as a whole. However, with 2021 now upon us, let’s take a look at some of the events for us golf fans to get excited about this year…

Firstly, The Masters returns to its April date, just five months on from Dustin Johnson’s record-breaking win back in November. This is followed by three more Majors in the men's game and five in the women's, including the one that got away in 2020: The Open Championship!

To top it all off, we have both the Ryder Cup and Solheim Cup in the same month - September. Let’s hope Team Europe are partying twice this September! Oh, and let's not forget about the Olympics!

Something to work towards

Come rain or shine, golfers never need an excuse to dust off the cobwebs and get onto the course. So, with lots of golf to (hopefully) look forward to in 2021, there's no better time to conjure up some golf-based resolutions for the year ahead.

Walking in a winter wonderland

Long walks are as much a part of the festive season as eating too much turkey and dozing on the sofa afterwards. Greg Norman once said ‘Happiness is a long walk with a putter’. Now, it would be a little odd to take your putter on a festive walk, but one thing you'll definitely need is a good jacket!
