Nostalgic find during lockdown

Like all of us during lockdown looking for odd jobs around the house I stumbled on this 1985 picture taken outside the pro shop here at Banchory.
So for a bit of fun here goes for a Throwback Nostalgic Challenge - Guess who ? One was the Head Professional at Banchory - One is the Head Professional at Banchory - One finished Runner-up in the Open Championship - One won the Open Championship - and one was a Hotelier. Golf Course Feedback

Year in year out across every golf course the ever present comment received in pro shops is this classic “why are there so many unprepaired pitchmarks on those greens?” Well this year since returning from lockdown things are no different - we all as responsible golfers really do need to be more aware of the inevitable impact that golf balls landing onto the green surfaces can make and attempt to look for at least one pitchmark. Our responsibility as golfers is to respect not just our fellow competitors and the etiquette of the game but also to look after the golf course itself therefore PLEASE PLEASE REPAIR your pitchmarks and help keep YOUR course as good as it can be.

Broken Tees

I have been asked by the Greens Committee to put out a note reminding golfers to use the plastic broken tee cups provided on the tees - we are seeing an increase in broken tees being left on the teeing areas on a daily basis - please can you pick up (use your gloved hand if unsure which tee is yours) and place your tees in the cups provided thus helping to keep the teeing grounds broken tee free.

A fantastic performance

Certain rounds make us mere mortals say “Wow!”.

Collin Morikawa had one of those rounds on Sunday. Justin Thomas really should have won the tournament - and when you sink a glorious putt from 50-plus feet for birdie in a playoff it’d be understandable to celebrate as you have - but, as I said, Morikawa had a “Wow!” round.

This was Morikawa's second PGA Tour victory. That might not sound too impressive as a standalone statement, but it's one more than the number of cuts he's missed so far in his youthful career. Just let that sink in for a minute.

It goes to show how consistent the top players are. So, rather than trying to hit the ball further, maybe we should all be striving for more consistency in our game? Share your thoughts with us using the button below.

A recent survey highlighted that nearly a quarter of golfers who haven’t been custom fitted before believe that they are not good enough to go through the fitting process. We're incredibly passionate about finding the best clubs for your game - no matter your golfing ability or experience - and an enjoyable fitting experience is the most effective way to do this and help you improve as a golfer.

Consistency is key

It’s nice to be able to hit the ball further and more accurately, and a custom fitting will help with that, but the main thing is to be more consistent so that your bad shots are few and far between.

This is the most enjoyable part for any golfer - trying out the latest equipment from different brands. It's not just about what performs best, but also about what you prefer in both looks and feel.

Making life easier off the tee

The average golfer will use their driver between 10-13 times per round. That means between 50-75% of holes are relying on that one club for a good start. But how do you ensure you get that good start?

Finding the right driver

First things first, if you want to find the fairway with more regularity then you need to feel comfortable with your driver. This game is made so much easier when we're confident in playing the shot at hand.
