The Gents Foursomes competition was played last Saturday - pictured with their spoils are the winners - Hugh & Michael Hall receiving the trophy from Mike Tweed (PGC Vice captain).

Deeside Scratch League

Congratulations to the Gents Scratch team of Gary Watson, Paul Forbes, Martyn Aitken, Lee Buck and Tony Robertson who defeated Aboyne by 3 points to 2 in the Final of the Deeside Scratch League Knockout at Banchory last Sunday. Convincing wins from Tony Robertson and Martyn Aitken got the boys off to a good start but Aboyne fought back to level at 2-2 before Gary pulled through to ensure that the boys lifted the trophy and made up for their defeat in last year's final. Well done boys……great achievement!

Ross rounded off a fine season in his final event of the year up at Royal Dornoch. Ross and his team WON the Pro-Aam last Saturday with a tremendous score of 58 (12 under). The Pro-Am was then followed by a 36-hole event for Assistant Professionals. In the first round he recovered from being 5 over after 6 holes to score 75, leaving him in 20th position. On the second day he was 4 over at the turn but came home in 2 under par 33 to score 72 on a very difficult championship course to finish in a tie for 14th position in a field of 60 players.

Ross also passed his final exam last week, therefore he has now completed everything enabling him to apply for PGA membership and become a fully qualified pro.

Ryder Cup at PGC

On singles day of this year's Ryder Cup – Sunday 28th September, we are running our very own Ryder Cup event. You can enter via the on-line booking system NOW as a team of 2 players and play for either Europe or USA. The event is a shotgun start at 9.30am and the draw for hole positions will take place a couple of days before the 28th.

There will be a carvery available in the clubhouse following golf along with a 90 inch plasma TV which will be showing all 3 days of the Ryder Cup – so let's get into Ryder Cup mode and come along to the club and soak up the atmosphere with our BIG TV and cheer on Europe to retain the Cup!

Ryder Cup Snack Deal – for all 3 days you can sample from our new Ryder Cup Flatbread special (various toppings to choose from) and tag on either a Pint of your choice or a glass of wine – all for just £5 Happy days!
