Welcome to the latest issue of our weekly newsletter bringing you all the goings on at Aberdeenshire's friendliest pro shop.
Lots of news for you again this week, including: Golf Course Update
Date for your diary, Monday, 13 March is when we will have the magnificent Air2G2 machine injecting much needed air into the profiles of our greens. I've added a link to a video so you can click on it if you are unsure what the machine does. Like any other time we have had the machine in, it's made no surface disruptions at all.
Dealing With Organic Matter
If you click here you can read an article which describes some of these practices carried out at Banchory to reduce Organic Matter and we've had Laboratory proof that it's working. Main reason is for firmer and better surfaces but also the lack of disruption to play.
Pro V1 Competition
Guess how many golf balls are inside the jar. Reply to this email with your guess. The first right answer we receive will win a sleeve of the new 2017 Pro V1 balls.
Before the first Pro V1 balls came along in 2001 a golfer had a difficult choice - to use a hard feeling ball and get more distance off the tee or to sacrifice distance and use a softer feeling ball, either way there was always a trade-off, when the Pro V1 ball came along with its revolutionary urethane cover it changed everything. Suddenly the new ball offered the best of both worlds - incredible distance off the tee but also an unrivalled soft feel and control on short game shots around the green, as soon as it was launched nearly 100 Tour players switched immediately to the new ball and many have not changed since.
Average golfers think they're not good enough to use a Pro V1 ball, but the truth is that the Pro V1 ball is the best ball for every golfer. If you like a slightly harder feeling ball then the Pro V1x is the ball for you, if you haven't tried a Pro V1 ball you don't know what you're missing out on and the new version with its improved core is better than ever as it's softer and more durable, but offers a penetrating flight but lower spin on tee shots which is the key to more distance.
Have a look at this video here and you can see why the 2017 Pro V1 ball is better than ever.
PING Fitting Day
As a service and for the first time at Banchory I have organized a PING fitting day for Thursday, 13 April. On this afternoon between 1pm and running until 6pm we will have the last two holes on the golf course reserved so that we can set up the day with a number of winter tee mats to protect the grass just in front of the 18th tee box where golfers who are keen to try out this year's range of PING equipment (Ladies or Gents) or are thinking on a new set of irons, woods can book themselves in for a fitting with one of the PING Official Tour custom fitters. We will have all the modern technology on the day along with all the latest product from the market leader in the game. An email closer to the date will be circulated around all members.
Please click here to request a fitting.

Junior News At The Club...
Following the recent AGM held at the Club, it was agreed to adjust the Junior membership category and create two membership levels as follows:
12 and under (on 1st January) £40 per year. 13-17 years of ages £60 per year.
The restructure of fee in this category should generate interest in joining the club which further down the line has the benefit of offering a youth transitional membership (ages 18-23 yrs ) of the club and at a much reduced fee from the full adult membership fee and offers great value for money. This category also carries with it the benefit of avoiding paying any adult joining fee applicable (only applicable if moving from Junior into youth membership). To download an application form to join the Club simply click here.
Junior Coaching
On the Junior theme and linked to this category we have a coaching programme which will be available to both members and non-members. Simply click onto this link to view this year's junior classes and further information.
Five Hole Junior Golf
In addition to the coaching and something that we started last year we will also continue with the fun golf five hole competition each Saturday evening. To read more on this simply click here and if you have any questions please feel free to get in touch.
