Last Saturday saw this year's Gents Invitational Member / Guest day being played. We had 41 members playing with their invited guests and took to the course playing a variation of 3 x 6 hole formats i.e.: 1-6 a Greensomes, 7-12 as a better ball and the last 6 as a Texas Scramble. The results from this are as follows:
1 Graeme Davidson + Callum Cruickshank Nett Score 57.5 £80 Each 2 Colin Truscott + Phil Truscott Nett Score 58 £60 Each 3 Mark Lothian + Ian Michie Nett Score 59 £35 Each 4 A. Bell + M. Watson Nett Score 60 (B.I.H) £20 Each 5 John Hill (Wappy) + Kevin Smith Nett Score 60 £10 Each
Prize Money is given as Shop Credit for Members and a Banchory Golf Club Professional Shop Voucher for Guests which can be picked up from the shop anytime. Many Thanks to those who played, hopefully you all enjoyed the different formats included.
The following day Sunday was Medal Finals Day with Class 1 players playing 2 rounds followed by Class 2 & 3 gents along with the Ladies & Juniors completing their single rounds. The overall Gents scratch winner was Davy Brand who posted rounds of 67 + 70 for a 137 total and collected the Considine Trophy. Class 2/3 was won by Calum Riddell with a nett 67.
Although we have ended the Wednesday gent's medals we are still running a Wednesday sweep each week which allows you to play for handicap purposes. Our eclectic continues to run alongside each week so if you are looking to keep your competitive edge you can do so right up until the last Wednesday in October.
Remember we still have one more Open left before the season ends - we have a Texas Scramble Open being played on Sunday 9th October - the team of 4 players can be any combination - to simply enter on-line click here the team entry is £40 and with the course still in great shape is a great day out.
He's back! Or is he?
So, what did you make of Tiger Woods' announcement that he hopes to return to action in October?
The former world number one, now ranked outside the top 700, splits opinion, but it can surely only be a good thing that the 14-time Major winner is close to teeing it up competitively again after more than a year on the sidelines.
Of course, nothing is straightforward where Tiger is concerned, because at the time of writing the 40-year-old still isn't 100% certain he'll be in the field to play in the Safeway Open in California, starting on 13 October - it all just adds a little drama to the Tiger circus.
"It could be a fun fall," said Woods. "It was difficult missing tournaments that are important to me, but this time I was smart about my recovery and didn't rush it."
What we do know is that he will be at Hazeltine at the end of the month as a non-playing Ryder Cup vice-captain. We suspect once the dust has settled on events in Minnesota, Woods will let us in on a little more.
Maybe you're gearing up for your own return to action. If that's the case and your game is a little rusty, don't hesitate to speak to the team about some coaching.
