Dean Vannet - Head PGA ProfessionalI was born in Arbroath in 1964 and raised in m Carnoustie where I started to learn to play golf from the age of 7. By the time I was 16 yrs of age I was off scratch and represented both club and country from Scottish Schoolboy International to Boy International with my main highlight coming when I captured the European Schoolboy title over the tough links of Portmarock in Ireland. I then moved to take up the role as Assistant PGA Professional at Banchory Golf Club in 1985 and trained for 5 years alongside former Open Champion Paul Lawrie. After a brief spell in England I moved to take up the role as the clubs first PGA Professional at Peterculter Golf Club in May 1992. In 2001 I was appointed as the clubs General Manager and combined both roles. With the assistance of my new Assistant in the shop Andrew Pillans, we strive to offer all our customers with the best possible service. Although my playing has reduced greatly due to other duties at the club, Dean has managed to win several Pro Am events with a particular highlight coming in 1996 where I scored a 10 under par 62 in winning the Portlethen Pro-Am and established a new course record which still stands to date. Also in the same year I scored an 8 under par 64 over the Nairn Dunbar course playing in the Nabors Drilling Pro-Am, and while the score itself was enjoyable, the most memorable part of the round was scoring 9 consecutive birdies from the 5th to the 13th - those were the days!
